SHWEDAGON PAGODA and more...

HI walked out for a coffee, some bread and a juice! After that I took a taxi to Shwedagon Pagoda! You could see it from far away, but first I visited Maha Wizaya Zedi, built in 1980 to commemorate the unification of Theravada Buddhism in Mayanmar.

After that I used the pedestrian bridge to the the southern gateway to Shwedagon! When I arrived there were several large groups of tourists coming from buses. I had a plastic bag for my shoes and I went in, paying the 8 USD as entrence fee and went up with the elevator?! Its a huge area and I've nerver seen so many Buddhas on one site before. But its the Stupa that is great, fantastic... The Stupas uppermost section is encrusted with 5448 diamonds, 2317rubies, sapphires and other gems, as well as 1065 golden bells. At the very top sparkles a single 76 carat diamond!!!! The stupa is almost 100 m high and there are lots of other small Stupas and pagodas.

 The STUPA !!!!

Around the Stupa

The Buddha made of one piece of Jade!

All the Buddhas and I.

Munks googling!

Another building covered by glas pieces!

It was some very special moments to see all these beautiful Stupas, Pagodas, Buddhas etc
It started already 588 BC and the latest modification was made 1774!
I just say WHOOOOW!!!

---------------------------------

I went out thru the northern stair and walked over to the Martyrs Mausoleum housing the remains of General Aung San and the six comrades who were assassinated on 19 July 1947.

Now I took a taxi back to down town, had a quick lunch and went for a small rest before walking out again to the railwaystation to check up timetables!

The impressive railway station !

On my way back I saw a sign about a rof top bar and went in for a great view, a beer and some warm goat cheese. 20 stories up.

Christmas decorated Baptist Church in the centre.

GOOD NIGHT!
